MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

General Engineer Option:
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus four years of professional engineering experience.
Petroleum Engineer Option:
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional petroleum engineering plus four years of professional petroleum engineering experience.
Environmental Engineer Option:
Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus four years of professional environmental engineering experience.
SUBSTITUTIONS: (For all options)
A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of engineer intern or equivalent experience.
A Ph.D. in engineering will substitute for two years of engineer intern or equivalent experience.
Advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of engineer intern or equivalent experience.
NOTE: (For all options)
The four years of overall professional engineering experience include at least four years of engineer intern or equivalent experience.

The maximum salary for the Engineer 4 is $89,253. Environmental Engineer Option
Applicant must possess a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus four years of professional environmental engineering experience.
This position has a special entrance rate of $3740.53 per month for an Engineer 3 and $4281.33 per month for an Engineer 4.

To apply scholastic theory and engineering experience in the planning, design, construction, inspection, and/or maintenance of wharves, buildings, systems, or programs.

Differs from Engineering Technicians by the responsibility for approving drawings, plans, construction estimates, and payment invoices as well as the ability to perform a broader range of engineering principles.
Examples of Work:
Perform complex engineering reviews of construction jobs in progress and checks for adequacy of supervision given by contractors.
Prepare reports covering the results of inspections and recommendations for corrective measures.
Drafts letters to responsible representatives of inspected facilities citing the findings of inspections, etc., including recommendations for corrective action to eliminate problems or defects noted during inspections, surveys, etc.
Perform varied office engineering functions in preparing and supervising the preparation of estimates, plans, and specifications.
Develop budgets and manpower plans, reviews performance data, and coordinates changes in work reporting.
Performs industrial engineering and productivity studies; analyzes trends to focus management attention on problem areas.
Reviews proposed projects to ensure eligibility for federal and state funding and environmental clearance.
Develops databases used in planning construction or renovation projects.
Prepares and checks bid proposals; prepares proposals for contracts; supervises construction audits and final payments to contractors.
Assist in coordinating utility relocations to accommodate construction projects.
Administer specialized statewide safety, communication, and other programs.
