I. Position Summary - Theultrasonographer provides health care services using sonic energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs ultrasonic imaging and related procedures in one or more of the following areas: OB/Gyn, abdomen, neurosonolgy, echocardiography and vascular. Demonstrates anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention by, or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Applies appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Participates in Cardiovascular Continuous Quality Improvement.
A. Licensure/Certification/Registration:
B. Sonographer must be registered in 1 of the 2 following areas, and must obtain registry in the other area within 6 months of hire date.
General Ultrasound Certification- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with the credentials R.T.(R)(S), or R.T.(N)(S) ; or R.T.(T)(S)
Echocardiagraphy Certification- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) (AE), or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS)
Vascular Certification-Registered Vascular Technologist (RCVT); or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS);
Current CPR, Healthcare provider.
C. Education: Graduate of an Ultrasound program which is fully accredited by the Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA).
D. Experience: A minimum of two years experience in a hospital setting is preferred.Special Qualifications: Good communication skills, computer skills are helpful. Ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care.
